I've had a lot of requests for this post. I wish I could show real-life examples from my own home but I'm severely low on holiday decor and this is not my year to spend on it. So, I can dream and search online for some great items I might purchase when everything is on sale in the new year.
I can't lie... I find a lot of holiday decor endearing but lacking in much design style. Especially the cheaper stuff that I can actually afford right now. Don't get me wrong, I love all decor -- even the type I find a little cheesy -- but I wouldn't put all of it my house.
Luckily, I follow some incredible designers and influencers who have shared their tastefully-done holiday spaces. While my home might not look like theirs, the goal is to copy some elements of their designs.
I've noticed that a lot of them have specific rooms (or even just trees) that are decorated to align with their aesthetic and separate rooms/areas that are decorated with some family heirlooms and chotskies that make it feel like a cozy Christmas home. If my house were big enough and I had the money to make that set-up happen, I would! For now, a cozy Christmas is more important than a perfectly-decorated holiday space. That being said, I am going to start building up to the holiday decor I want someday.
